Lyrics: Oh, Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side, The summer’s gone and all the roses falling, It’s you, it’s you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer’s in the meadow, Or when the valley’s hushed and white with snow, It’s I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow, Oh, Danny Boy, oh Danny boy I love you so! But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying, If I am dead, as dead I may well be Ye’ll come and find the place where I am lying, And kneel and say an Ave there for me; And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me, And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be, For you will bend and tell me that you love me, And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!

Did Billie Eilish even know she was performing at the Grammys? The way she rocked out while singing “Happier Than Ever,” jumping up and down and smiling at her brother, guitarist-producer Finneas, she seemed like she was owning a moment all her own. Not even pouring rain — or the fact that she would walk away with zero trophies among the seven she was nominated for, an egregious shutout given the year she had — could ruin the good time she was having on top of a prop mobile home as she belted “Just leave me aloooo-ho-ho-hone.” But she didn’t lose herself completely; she still remembered to hold up her T-shirt, repping late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, sharing in her triumph.
Lyrics
When I’m away from you, I’m happier than ever
Wish I could explain it better
I wish it wasn’t true, hm
Give me a day or two to think of something clever
To write myself a letter
To tell me what to do, mm-mmm
Do you read my interviews?
Or do you skip my avenue? (My avenue)
When you (when you) said you were passing through
Was I even on your way?
I knew when I asked you to (when I asked you to)
Be cool about what I was telling you
You’d do the opposite of what you said you’d do (what you said you’d do)
And I’d end up more afraid
Don’t say it isn’t fair
You clearly weren’t aware that you made me miserable
So if you really wanna know
When I’m away from you (when I’m away from you)
I’m happier than ever (happier than ever)
Wish I could explain it better (wish I could explain it better)
I wish it wasn’t true (wish it wasn’t true), mmm-hmm
You call me again, drunk in your Benz
Driving home under the influence
You scared me to death, but I’m wasting my breath
‘Cause you only listen to your fucking friends
I don’t relate to you
I don’t relate to you, no
‘Cause I’d never treat me this shitty
You made me hate this city
And I don’t talk shit about you on the internet
Never told anyone anything bad
‘Cause that shit’s embarrassing, you were my everything
And all that you did was make me fucking sad
So don’t waste the time I don’t have
And don’t try to make me feel bad
I could talk about every time that you showed up on time
But I’d have an empty line ’cause you never did
Never paid any mind to my mother or friends
So I shut ’em all out for you ’cause I was a kid
You ruined everything good
Always said you were misunderstood
Made all my moments your own
Just fucking leave me alone

Brandi Carlile – River – Joni Mitchell Cover Joni Mitchell Kennedy Center Honors Help Me Tribute to Joni Mitchell Joni Mitchell was recognized on December 5 at 2021’s Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, where the decorated singer-songwriter’s work was interpreted by an array of artists. One such collaboration saw Brittany Howard and Herbie Hancock perform “Both Sides Now” together. Taken from 1969’s Clouds, “Both Sides Now” fittingly finds Mitchell observing, “I really don’t know clouds at all.” Though Howard and Hancock are both celebrated in their own fields—Howard on vocals and Hancock on keys—they cede the stage to Mitchell’s timeless lyrics. The pair each turn in understated performances, keeping Mitchell’s songwriting the focus of attention. Hancock—who himself was honored at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center in 2013—contributed to a re-recording of “Both Sides Now” on Mitchell’s 2000 album of the same name. In addition to Howard and Hancock, the evening also saw tributes from Ellie Goulding, Norah Jones, and Brandi Carlile. Goulding tackled one of Mitchell’s most iconic compositions, “Big Yellow Taxi“, Jones turned in a medley of songs including “Help Me”, and Carlile staged the Christmas song “River”. Somewhere Only We Know
lyrics
You and i both know
Tthere is nothing more to say
Chance has shut her shining eyes
Aand turned her face away
Leaning on the windowsill
You could write me someday and i think you will
We could see the sadness as a gift and still
Feel too heavy to hold
Snow fallin’
I try to keep from callin’
Watch the spring turn to winter
Fireflies all frozen
the seasons go so fast
Thinking that this one was gonna last
Maybe the question was too much to ask
Been searching for your eyes
All I see is blue sky and that old man beats his crooked cane it’s time to let go leaning on the windowsill you could write me someday and i bet you will we could see the sadness as a gift and still the seasons go so fast thinking that this one was gonna last maybe the question was too much to ask you and I could see into the same eternity every second brimming with a majesty kiss so sweet so fine you could hear the music inside my mind and you showed me a place i’ll find even when i’m old just leaning on the windowsill you could write me someday and i hope you will we could see the sadness as a gift and still the seasons go so fast thinking that this one was gonna last maybe the question was too much to ask

Somewhere Only We Know

Lyrics
I wanna make
Something beautiful
For you and from you
To show you
To show you
I adore you
Oh you
And your journey
Towards me
Which I see
And I see
All you push through
Mad for you
And because of you
I couldn’t thank you in ten thousand years
If I cried ten thousand rivers of tears
Ah, but you know the soul
And you know what makes it gold
You give life through blood
Blood, blood
Blood, blood
Oh, blood, blood
Oh I wanna make something so lovely for you
‘Cause I promised that’s what I’d do for you
With the Bible, I stole
I know you forgave my soul because
Such was my need on a chronic Christmas Eve
And I think we’re agreed
That it should have been free
And you sang to me
They dress the wounds of my poor people
As though they’re nothing
Saying, “Peace, peace”
When there’s no peace
They dress the wounds of my poor people
As though they’re nothing
Saying, “Peace, peace, peace”
When there’s no peace
Days without number
Now can a bride forget her jewels?
Or a maid her ornaments?
Yet, my people forgotten me
Days without number
Days without number
And in their want
Who’ll dress their wounds?
Who’ll dress their wounds?
