Lyrics

My heart is low, my heart is so low
As only a woman’s heart can be
As only a woman’s, as only a woman’s
As only a woman’s heart can know

Tears that drip
From my bewildered eyes
Taste of bitter sweet romance
You’re still in my hopes
You’re still on my mind
And even though I manage on my own

My heart is low, my heart is so low
As only a woman’s heart can be
As only a woman’s, as only a woman’s
As only a woman’s heart can know

Restless eyes
Reveal my troubled soul
And memories flood my weary heart
I mourn for my dreams
I mourn for my wasted love
And while I know that I’ll survive alone

My heart is low, my heart is so low
As only a woman’s heart can be
As only a woman’s, as only a woman’s
As only a woman’s heart can know
My heart is low, my heart is so low
As only a woman’s heart can be
As only a woman’s, as only a woman’s
As only a woman’s heart can know
My heart is low, my heart is so low
As only a woman’s heart can be
As only a woman’s, as only a woman’s

Lorde – Green Light

Lyrics

I do my makeup in somebody else’s car
We order different drinks at the same bars
I know about what you did and I wanna scream the truth
She thinks you love the beach, you’re such a damn liar

Those great whites, they have big teeth
Hope they bite you
Thought you said that you would always be in love
But you’re not in love no more
Did it frighten you
How we kissed when we danced on the light up floor?
On the light up floor

But I hear sounds in my mind
Brand new sounds in my mind
But honey I’ll be seein’ you ‘ever I go
But honey I’ll be seein’ you down every road
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it’

Cause honey I’ll come get my things, but I can’t let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
Oh, I wish I could get my things and just let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it

Sometimes I wake up in a different bedroom
I whisper things, the city sings ’em back to you

All those rumors, they have big teeth
Hope they bite you
Thought you said that you would always be in love
But you’re not in love no more
Did it frighten you
How we kissed when we danced on the light up floor?
On the light up floor

But I hear sounds in my mind
Brand new sounds in my mind
But honey I’ll be seein’ you ‘ever I go
But honey I’ll be seein’ you down every road
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it’

Cause honey I’ll come get my things, but I can’t let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
Oh, honey I’ll come get my things, but I can’t let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
Yes, honey I’ll come get my things, but I can’t let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
Oh, I wish I could get my things and just let go
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it

I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it
I’m waiting for it, that green light, I want it

Sharon Shannon, ‘Galway Girl’ Finale, Fleadh Cheoil 2010. Cavan

Published on Aug 28, 2010

Exciting, high energy end to a great gig, & intriguing to watch Sharon Shannon interact dynamically with musicians, people backstage, and members of the audience simultaneously , while effortlessly delivering amazing music, with the same warmth as her captivating smile. Video work is a bit shaky, but hopefully shares the wonderful spirit of the fleadh cheoil, that evening in Cavan, on Sunday August 22nd, 2010. The town was full to capacity, when Sharon performed, with many people listening from a distance, down ‘packed’ streets. There were so many people in the town (organizers mentioned 85,000), that the show ended early to ensure safety of music fans. From Sharon’s website: Sharon has recorded and toured with….Bono, Adam Clayton, Sinead O’Connor, Jackson Browne, John Prine, Steve Earl, Mark Knopfler, The Chieftains, The Waterboys, Willie Nelson, Nigel Kennedy, Alison Krauss, and Shane Mc Gowan… Featuring: Sharon Shannon: Accordion Dezi Donnelly: violin Jack Maher: electric guitar Jim Murray: acoustic guitar Guest: banjo Related websites: http://www.sharonshannon.com/ http://www.myspace.com/sharonshannon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharon_S… http://www.dezidonnelly.com/ http://www.myspace.com/jackmaher1976 http://www.fleadh2010.ie/Default.aspx… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleadh_C… http://comhaltas.ie/ From Wikipedia: The Fleadh Cheoil (Festival of Music) is an Irish music competition run by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ). There are various stages to the competition. In Ireland there are county and provincial competitions leading to the All-Ireland Fleadh. In Britain there are regional then national stages of qualification for the All-Ireland. Competitions are divided into the following age categories: under 12, 12-15, 15-18, and over 18 (senior). The first national festival of Irish traditional music was held in Mullingar in 1951. At its inaugural meeting in September 1951, CCÉ came up with the title of Fleadh Cheoil, aiming to make this a great national festival of traditional music. The fleadh has been held in many different venues. In the years that followed, the number of would-be competitors grew so large that qualifying stages had to be arranged at county and provincial level. Since then, Fleadh Nua (the new fleadh), Fleadh na Breataine (an All-Britain fleadh) and regional fleadhanna in Britain, and two major fleadhanna in the USA have also become annual CCÉ events. From its beginning, the goal of the Fleadh Cheoil was to establish standards in Irish traditional music through competition. The Fleadh developed as a mainly competitive event, but it also included many concerts, céilíthe, parades, and sessions. Today, nearly 50 years on, fleadhanna at each level provide a platform and a meeting place for the thousands of musicians (around 20,000 performers compete in fleadhanna each year), singers and dancers who carry on the tradition. Peter Gabriel & Sinead O’Connor – Don’t Give Up, Chile 1990

Ok. Let me explain what happend: Vinnie Colaiuta is playing the right rhythm, but he’s putting accents too loud in order to help the keyboard player to feel the 6/8 compass over the 4/4 secuence of harmony. Then, the keyboard player, played the chords out of time (not out of tune). Sting did not knew what to do neither, it seems that those guys learned the song like 15 minutes before playing it. At the end, Sting finally catches the right scale, which all of us can hear a well played bass (even with slaps). Gabriel is used to play this song in a full 6/8 time, with a higher pitch, and only a bass drum playing every last 5 and 6th beats of the 6/8 compass, which actually helps a lot to him to sing it properly. That’s what happend. Pure Confusion. Cheers to everyone, and you’re all right… THIS SOUNDED SOOOOO AWFUL… which prooves that you can be the best player in the world, but if you do not do your homework, you will sound like shit!

Sometimes You Can’t Make It on Your Own

U2

Tough
You think you’ve got the stuff
You’re telling me and anyone
You’re hard enough

You don’t have to put up a fight
You don’t have to always be right
Let me take some of the punches
For you tonight

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don’t have to go it alone

And it’s you when I look in the mirror
And it’s you when I don’t pick up the phone
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own

We fight all the time
You and I, that’s alright
We’re the same soul don’t need, I don’t need to hear you say
That if we weren’t so alike
You’d like me a whole lot more

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don’t have to go it alone

And it’s you when I look in the mirror
And it’s you when I don’t pick up the phone
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own

I know that we don’t talk
I’m sick of it all
Can you hear me when I sing?
You’re the reason I sing
You’re the reason why the opera is in me

Hey now
Still got to let you know
A house doesn’t make a home
Don’t leave me here alone

And it’s you when I look in the mirror
And it’s you that makes it hard to let go
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own
Sometimes you can’t make it
Best you can do, is to fake it
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own
