Dolly Parton has always been about the welfare of children, and that much is evidenced in the 1993 song “What Will Baby Be”. Maura O’Connell provides the backing vocals on this song. That voice paired with Parton’s lilting vocals and tender guitar-strumming results in a beautifully cohesive piece of work.

Lyrics

A young couple marries, already fighting
Along comes baby makin’ them three
Trouble’s all he hears from the time he’s in didies
Baby don’t know just what to believe

Angry words and spiteful actions
Baby’s gonna cut his teeth on these
If that’s gonna be the main attraction
What will the baby be, what will baby be

Baby needs love and needs direction
Baby’s first school is the family
For they are only a reflection
Of the things they see, what will baby be

What will baby be after baby is grown
What will baby do if baby don’t know what’s right or wrong
Got to show them love, got to teach them truth
‘Cause what baby is when baby grows up
Well, that depends entirely on me and you
Depends entirely on me and you

Baby thinks God is just a curse word
Never said a prayer ’cause he’s never been taught
They remember and repeat what they’ve heard
So I ask who’s really at fault

So many questions, so few answers
So many lessons we don’t teach
Stumbling through like clumsy dancers
What will baby be, what will baby be

What will baby be after baby is grown
What will baby do when baby is out there on his own
Teach the children how to be all they should be
‘Cause what baby is when baby grows up
Depends entirely on you and me
Depends entirely on you and me
What will baby be

Lyrics
I walked across an empty landI knew the pathway like the back of my handI felt the earth beneath my feetSat by the river and it made me complete
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?I’m getting old, and I need something to rely onSo, tell me when you’re gonna let me inI’m getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen treeI felt the branches of it looking at meIs this the place we used to love?Is this the place that I’ve been dreaming of?
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?I’m getting old, and I need something to rely onSo, tell me when you’re gonna let me inI’m getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don’t we goTalk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everythingSo, why don’t we go somewhere only we know?Somewhere only we know
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?I’m getting old, and I need something to rely onSo, tell me when you’re gonna let me inI’m getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don’t we goTalk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everythingSo, why don’t we go?So, why don’t we go?
Ooh, oh-ohAh, oh
This could be the end of everythingSo, why don’t we go somewhere only we know?Somewhere only we knowSomewhere only we know

Lyrics

I don’t want to hear a love song
I got on this airplane just to fly
And I know there’s life below me
But all that you can show me is the prairie and the sky

And I don’t want to hear a sad story
Full of heartbreak and desire
The last time I felt like this
I was in the wilderness and the canyon was on fire

And I stood on the mountain
In the night and I watched it burn
I watched it burn, I watched it burn

I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham
I would hold my life in his saving grace
I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham
If I thought I could see, I could see your face

Well, you really got me this time
And the hardest part is knowing I’ll survive
And I come to listen for the sound
Of the trucks as they move down out on 95

And pretend that it’s the ocean
Coming down to wash me clean, to wash me clean
Baby, do you know what I mean?

I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham
I would hold my life in his saving grace
I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham
If I thought I could see, I could see your face
If I thought I could see, I could see your face

Thank you

Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton – You’ll Never Be the Sun #Nashville Lyrics by Donagh Long

Lyrics

You’ll never be the sun turning in the sky
And you won’t be the moon above us on the moonlit night
And you won’t be the stars in heaven although they burn so bright
But even on the deepest ocean you will be the light

You may not always shine as you go barefoot over stones
You might be so long together or you might walk alone
And you’ll find that love comes easy
Or that love is always right
So even when the storm clouds gather you will be the light

And if you lose a parting side when love turns round on you
Leaving the past behind is knowing you’ll do like you always
Holding you blind
keeping you true

You’ll never be the sun turning in the sky
and you won’t be the moon above us on the moonlit night
and you won’t be the stars in heaven although they burn so bright
but even on the deepest ocean you will be the light
you will be the light
you will be the light

Trisha Yearwood – Back Home Again by John Denver

2,634,380 views Dec 17, 2015 #TrishaYearwood#CountryClassic#RonjasCountryMusicCracker Barrel Country Songs Of The Year Concert 2006 Lyrics:John Denver Music:John Denver “Back Home Again” is the title of a popular song written and performed by the American singer-songwriter John Denver. Released as a single from his album of the same name in 1974, “Back Home Again” peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart[2] in November of that year; it was Denver’s fifth Top 10 hit on the pop chart. “Back Home Again” topped the adult contemporary chart for two weeks. The single was the first of three number ones on the country music chart where it stayed for a single week.[3] The single was certified a gold record by the RIAA. The song won a CMA Award for Denver in 1975 in the category “Song of the Year”; he was also named “Entertainer of the Year” at the same ceremony, prompting country pop singer Charlie Rich to light the envelope on fire after reading that Denver had won—in an apparent insult to Denver’s musical style and image. *** Trisha Yearwood (born Patricia Lynn Yearwood; September 19, 1964)[2] is an American country music artist, actress, author, television personality and celebrity chef. She rose to fame with her 1991 debut single “She’s in Love with the Boy”, which became a number 1 hit on the Billboard country singles chart. Its corresponding self-titled debut album would sell over 2 million copies. Yearwood continued a series of major country hits during the early 1990s including, “Walkaway Joe” (1992), “The Song Remembers When” (1993), “XXX’s and OOO’s (An American Girl)” (1994) and “Believe Me Baby (I Lied)” (1996). #TrishaYearwood#BackHomeAgain#HonkyTonk#CountryClassic#RonjasCountryMusic#CountryMusic#GuriMalla2010

Lyrics

I have seen, seen it all in paper dreams
Watched it all full on the screen
But never understood
I have heard, have heard you speak a million words
Now you’re talking to me first
Never thought you would

Oh, my, my, you just took me by surprise
And I can’t believe my eyes
Oh, I must be seeing blind
Oh no, my, you are too good to be all mine
Now I’m looking in your eyes
Oh, I must be seeing blind

I was young, my heart was always on the run
But you made lovin’ fun
I never knew it could be, ey
I see you from a different point of view
Feel it’s too good to be true
I found my missing piece

Oh, my, my, you just took me by surprise
And I can’t believe my eyes
Oh, I must be seeing blind
Oh no, my, you are too good to be all mine
Now I’m looking in your eyes
Oh, I must be seeing blind
Oh, no

Oh, my, my
When I look into your eyes
It’s a sight I can’t describe
Oh, I must be seeing blind

Oh, my, my, you just took me by surprise
And I can’t believe my eyes
Oh, I must be seeing blind
Oh no, my, you are too good to be all mine
Now I’m looking in your eyes
Oh, I must be seeing blind
Oh, I must be seeing blind

Brandi Carlile – River – live at Joni Mitchell Kennedy Centre Honors ceremony. #washingtondc

6,394 views Jan 25, 2022

Brandi Carlile – River – Joni Mitchell Cover Joni Mitchell Kennedy Center Honors Help Me Tribute to Joni Mitchell Joni Mitchell was recognized on December 5 at 2021’s Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, where the decorated singer-songwriter’s work was interpreted by an array of artists. One such collaboration saw Brittany Howard and Herbie Hancock perform “Both Sides Now” together. Taken from 1969’s Clouds, “Both Sides Now” fittingly finds Mitchell observing, “I really don’t know clouds at all.” Though Howard and Hancock are both celebrated in their own fields—Howard on vocals and Hancock on keys—they cede the stage to Mitchell’s timeless lyrics. The pair each turn in understated performances, keeping Mitchell’s songwriting the focus of attention. Hancock—who himself was honored at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center in 2013—contributed to a re-recording of “Both Sides Now” on Mitchell’s 2000 album of the same name. In addition to Howard and Hancock, the evening also saw tributes from Ellie Goulding, Norah Jones, and Brandi Carlile. Goulding tackled one of Mitchell’s most iconic compositions, “Big Yellow Taxi“, Jones turned in a medley of songs including “Help Me”, and Carlile staged the Christmas song “River”.
