Christy Moore appears on RTÉ Primetime to perform his new single ‘Arthurs Day’ and give his views on the ‘Arthurs Day’ events organised by drinks company Diageo who manufacture Guinness.

Diageo Diageo have mounted a Crusade

Creating Arthur’s Day, they’ve suckered us into their charade

Start ’em off on Alco-Pops tastes just like lemonade

Get ’em into the hit while they’re young and none the wiser

Diageo pump the volume up on Arthur’s Day

With The Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Tom Jones and David Gray

To flog their alcohol, they’re revving the youngsters up for a mighty spree

Twitter and Facebook telling them where The Mumford’s ‘r going to be

Chorus

Happy Happy Happy Happy Arthur’s Day

It’s such…. a Happy Clappy Advertising’ Scheme

Drink sensibly they implore us, as their Hosannas sound a never-ending chorus

‘n kids get hooked on the fantasies that flash before us

Arthurs Alcoholiday is coming round again

He’s the patron saint of porter canonized by the Advertising’ Men

The medics in the ambulance ‘ll be working overtime,

The A&E ‘ll be like a drunk tank in the firing line

While Diageo goes AWOL at closing time

Lyrics

It really breaks my heart to see a dear old friend
Go down to the worn out place again
Do you know the sound
Of a closing door
Have you heard that sound before
Do you wonder if she knows you anymore
I wrapped your love around me like a chain
But I never was afraid that it would die
You can dance in a hurricane
But only if you’re standing in the eye
Where did you learn to walk
Where did you learn to run
Away from everything you loved
Did you think the bottle
Would ever ease your pain
Did you think that love’s a foolish game
Did you find someone else to take the blame
I wrapped your love around me like a chain
But I never was afraid that it would die
You can dance in a hurricane
But only if you’re standing in the eye
You can dance in a hurricane
But only if you’re standing in the eye
I am a sturdy soul
And there ain’t no shame
In lying down in the bed you made
Can you fight the urge to run for another day
You might make it further if you learn to stay
I wrapped your love around me like a chain
But I never was afraid that it would die
You can dance in a hurricane
But only if you’re standing in the eye
You can dance in a hurricane
But only if you’re standing in the eye

Miley Cyrus – “Lilac Wine”

”Lilac Wine” is a song written and composed by James Shelton in 1950 and interpreted since by a number of artists such as Nina Simone or Jeff Buckley.

Lilac Wine

Jeff Buckley

I lost myself on a cool damp night
I gave myself in that misty light
Was hypnotized by a strange delight
Under a lilac tree

I made wine from the lilac tree
Put my heart in its recipe
It makes me see what I want to see
And be what I want to be

When I think more than I want to think
I do things I never should do
I drink much more that I ought to drink
Because it brings me back you

Lilac wine is sweet and heady, like my love
Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, like my love
Listen to me, I cannot see clearly
Isn’t that she, coming to me nearly here?

Lilac wine is sweet and heady where’s my love?
Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, where’s my love?
Listen to me, why is everything so hazy?
Isn’t that she, or am I just going crazy, dear?

Lilac wine, I feel unready for my love
Feel unready for my love
