Carrie Underwood Defends Artists Like Jelly Roll and Beyoncé in Country Music @EveryNashThing #countrymusic

“There really is something for everybody now,”

@carrieunderwood says, defending

@PostMalone,

@Beyonce and

@JellyRoll615‘s place in country music.

There is plenty of room for everyone in country music, at least according to Carrie Underwood  The Grand Ole Opry member welcomes artists who blur the lines of country music, even if their music sounds different than hers.

“There really is something for everybody now,” Underwood tells Yahoo Entertainment. “One of the great things about country music, and this is true for music in general, is that every genre has really just broadened itself. If you like things that are more traditional, you can find those. If you like things that seem more pop, you can find that. If you like things that can cross over into other genres, you can find something that you love — and it’s all part of the same family. I always welcome that.”

“I feel like people my age and older really did grow up singing hymns,” Underwood explains. “We go to church now, and everything is very praise and worship, which is wonderful, but I feel like there are a lot of people who have not experienced a lot of these hymns, or they’re not a part of their weekly life. So, I hope people that are like me, that grew up with them, can listen to them and feel the heart behind them. We wanted to make them sound fresh, but we didn’t want to change anything too much.

“So, I hope the traditionalists will enjoy it, but I also hope that people who haven’t experienced these songs as much can listen and feel, get that sense of home but enjoy what they’re listening to as well,” she adds.

Underwood has a lot of proverbial irons in the fire, including her music career, Las Vegas residency and more. But her favorite role is being a mom to her sons, nine-year-old Jacob, and Isaiah, five, whom she shares with her husband, Mike Fisher.

“The biggest thing is cutting myself some slack,” Underwood admits. “The juggle is real for parents. We’re running around trying to take care of ourselves. We’re trying to take care of our kids. We’re working, we’re juggling. But that’s all of us at the end of the day, right?”

Niall Horan – Slow Hands (Lyric Video) #mullingar

Lyrics

“We should take this back to my place”
That’s what she said right to my face
‘Cause I want you bad
Yeah, I want you, baby
I’ve been thinking ’bout it all day
And I hope you feel the same way, yeah
‘Cause I want you bad
Yeah, I want you, baby

Slow, slow hands
Like sweat dripping down our dirty laundry
No, no chance
That I’m leaving here without you on me
I, I know
Yeah, I already know that there ain’t no stoppin’
Your plans and those
Slow hands (woo)
Slow hands

I just wanna take my time
We could do this, baby, all night, yeah
‘Cause I want you bad
Yeah, I want you, baby

Slow, slow hands
Like sweat dripping down our dirty laundry
No, no chance
That I’m leaving here without you on me
I, I know
Yeah, I already know that there ain’t no stoppin’
Your plans and those
Slow hands (woo)

Fingertips puttin’ on a show
Got me now and I can’t say no
Wanna be with you all alone
Take me home, take me home
Fingertips puttin’ on a show
Can’t you tell that I want you, baby, yeah

Slow hands
Like sweat dripping down our dirty laundry
No, no chance
That I’m leaving here without you on me
I, I know
Yeah, I already know that there ain’t no stoppin’
Slow hands
Like sweat dripping down our dirty laundry
No, no chance
That I’m leaving here without you on me
I, I know
Yeah, I already know that there ain’t no stoppin’
Your plans and those slow hands (woo)

Your slow hands
Ooh, slow hands

Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men – One Sweet Day

One Sweet Day

Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say
Now it’s too late to hold you
‘Cause you’ve flown away
So far away

Never had I imagined
Living without your smile
Feeling and knowing you hear me
It keeps me alive
Alive

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way
And I know eventually we’ll be together
One sweet day

Darling I never showed you
Assumed you’d always be there
I, I took your presence for granted
But I always cared
And I miss the love we shared

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way
And I know eventually we’ll be together
One sweet day

Although the sun will never shine the same
I’ll always look to a brighter day

Yeah, Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
You will always listen as I pray

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way
And I know eventually we’ll be together
One sweet day

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way
And I know eventually we’ll be together
One sweet day

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say

Alicia Keys & John Mayer – If I ain’t got you – Gravity

Lyrics

Some people live for the fortune
Some people live just for the fame
Some people live for the power, yeah
Some people live just to play the game

Some people think
That the physical things
Define what’s within
And I’ve been there before
That life’s a bore
So full of the superficial

Some people want it all
But I don’t want nothing at all
If it ain’t you, baby
If I ain’t got you, baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain’t got you, yeah

Some people search for a fountain
Promises forever young
Some people need three dozen roses
And that’s the only way to prove you love them

Hand me the world on a silver platter
And what good would it be
With no one to share, with no one who truly cares for me

Some people want it all
But I don’t want nothing at all
If it ain’t you, baby
If I ain’t got you, baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain’t got you, you, you

Some people want it all
But I don’t want nothing at all
If it ain’t you, baby
If I ain’t got you, baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain’t got you, yeah

If I ain’t got you with me, baby, oh, ooh
Said nothing in this whole wide world don’t mean a thing
If I ain’t got you with me, baby

Best of the Night: Billie Eilish Actually Looks Happier Than Ever

Did Billie Eilish even know she was performing at the Grammys? The way she rocked out while singing “Happier Than Ever,” jumping up and down and smiling at her brother, guitarist-producer Finneas, she seemed like she was owning a moment all her own. Not even pouring rain — or the fact that she would walk away with zero trophies among the seven she was nominated for, an egregious shutout given the year she had — could ruin the good time she was having on top of a prop mobile home as she belted “Just leave me aloooo-ho-ho-hone.” But she didn’t lose herself completely; she still remembered to hold up her T-shirt, repping late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, sharing in her triumph.

Lyrics

When I’m away from you, I’m happier than ever
Wish I could explain it better
I wish it wasn’t true, hm
Give me a day or two to think of something clever
To write myself a letter
To tell me what to do, mm-mmm

Do you read my interviews?
Or do you skip my avenue? (My avenue)
When you (when you) said you were passing through
Was I even on your way?
I knew when I asked you to (when I asked you to)
Be cool about what I was telling you
You’d do the opposite of what you said you’d do (what you said you’d do)
And I’d end up more afraid

Don’t say it isn’t fair
You clearly weren’t aware that you made me miserable
So if you really wanna know

When I’m away from you (when I’m away from you)
I’m happier than ever (happier than ever)
Wish I could explain it better (wish I could explain it better)
I wish it wasn’t true (wish it wasn’t true), mmm-hmm

You call me again, drunk in your Benz
Driving home under the influence
You scared me to death, but I’m wasting my breath
‘Cause you only listen to your fucking friends
I don’t relate to you
I don’t relate to you, no
‘Cause I’d never treat me this shitty
You made me hate this city

And I don’t talk shit about you on the internet
Never told anyone anything bad
‘Cause that shit’s embarrassing, you were my everything
And all that you did was make me fucking sad

So don’t waste the time I don’t have
And don’t try to make me feel bad
I could talk about every time that you showed up on time
But I’d have an empty line ’cause you never did
Never paid any mind to my mother or friends
So I shut ’em all out for you ’cause I was a kid

You ruined everything good
Always said you were misunderstood
Made all my moments your own
Just fucking leave me alone
